The second peace...
This moment the postman rang on the door and gave me the package with the new Depeche Mode Album. Playing the angel… At the moment I’m listening to this. Fabulous!!! Dark!!! Disturbing!!! As they say on the sleeve “Pain and suffering in various tempos”. Martin Gore and Dave Gahan created an album full of power, feelings and strength, most of us fans awaited for so long, back to Violator and Black Celebration. I can feel all the Pain they went through.
1) A Pain that I’m used to
A nice and strong opener! I think this will be the next single! It is one of the hardest songs on the album, very rocky.
2) John the Revelator
Electronic Gospel… strong, hard and disturbing. I think this song represents the album best (the feeling it leaves) and second least (the sound)
3) Suffer Well
This is the first song from Dave Gahan that appears on a Depeche Mode album.It is very oldstyle and could be on Violator too. It gets in mind very fast and is enjoyable. One of the more positive songs. Great job!
4) The sinner in me
Starting with spheric sounds this one sounds tragic. Advancing in the song it gets harder and becomes a little punisher. I like it.
5) Precious
This is the first Single, that they send out 14 days before release of the album. It is the least representing song but non the less a great one. It could be a Dance Hall Classic.
6) Macro
The first of the two songs, Martin sings solo. As usual it is a slow ballad with nice sounds and his typical distant voice. Influences from his Solo album are undenyable.
7) I want it all
This is the second song from Dave. A song with all things a song needs but nothing special.
8) Nothing’s impossible
Uh, once more a stronger song. It is the third song from Dave and I think the best of the three. Many feelings and nice compiled.
9) Introspectre
Instrumental, for sure the opener for the tour.
10) Damaged people
This is the second ballad Martin sings. A more “in contact” song. The style remembers on sometimes but it is some stronger.
11) Lillian
GREAT! A fast and dancable song. Could be a Single. A real rocksong!
12) The darkest star
A kind of a good night song. Dave and Martin are singing in duett. But be aware, the text is not for sweet children!
After listening the album through I must admit it is great! I love it
and cannot stop hearing it over and over again. A masterpiece from the old men!
Ah I forgot, sure a (A+)
