Lessons in history
Last thursday I was at the cinema. I saw “The Reader”, a film about a relationship and the live and the different views of people in their times. The film starts with a young boy, just 15, lerns sex and love in the arms of a 20 years older woman. Suddenly the woman disapears until some years later he sees her again in a trial against 5 women, guards in the KZ Auschwitz. She is one of them. At this point the film changes, becomes a film about influences in live. Sadly – in my opinion – this big task failed as well as the man who was one that boy failes to manage his live but for a different reason. In the film it is the end that does not work out. It is the grace to the woman, the intimation that the women is forgiven and the link to the United States in the end. The end does not work out. Sorry, just for the good beginning and the very good work of the actors: B- The directing would worth a D, just.
