Believe in Horror

Last night I was in the cinemas again, this time “The Exorcism of Emily Rose”. If you seperate from the aim and the story, it is a solid thriller. Of course it uses some classic elements of horror like the cat or black birds, but they are logic as it is about to be obsessed by satans deamons. It is about the fight of a doubting believer, the attorney Erin Bruner (Laura Linney) and the deamons that posess Emily Rose (Jennifer Carpenter, a bit strikingly). In the middle the mediator Pater Moore (Tom Wilkinson), wo is accused for acting wantonly negligent in doing this exorcism and not allowing the medicine to help emily.
In the end it is a film about higher forces, the existence of god and his reason, why he let people suffer that much. Some kind of ironic, that they say, it is because he wants to prove his existence. Coming in a time, where americans have to suffer, because of that president, sending his people to war.
